The Fundamentals

Temperature & Time
Different teas steep best at different water temperatures. If you have a kettle with a temperature dial, make sure to set it to the recommended temp listed on your tin. Longer steeps will lead to stronger flavors (and occasionally bitterness) but might mask some of the notes in your tea.
Pro tip:
Try different steep times to find your favorite flavor!

Better Water, Better Tea
Tea typically consists of two primary ingredients: your tea blend and your water. Poor quality, unfiltered water can reduce the clarity of your brew and mask the delicate notes of premium tea leaves. We recommend using bottled or filtered water for maximum flavor!

Re-steeping
Many whole-leaf teas can be steeped more than once, with each infusion revealing slightly different flavors and aromas. If your tea still has color and fragrance after the first cup, try brewing it again – just add a little extra steep time.
Pro tip:
Our tea bags are whole leaf and can be re-steeped as well!
Loose Leaf
Loose leaf tea allows the ingredients to fully expand while brewing, creating a richer, more nuanced cup with deeper flavors and more aroma. It's also our preferred brewing method since it gives you the most control over the final flavor.
TEA AMOUNT
1-2 tsp (~2g)
WATER
6-8 oz
TEMPERATURE
200-212ºF
BREWING TIME
3-5 mins
Notes:
If you notice any bitterness in the tea, try letting your water cool slightly before steeping.
Pro tip:
Give the leaves room to unfurl by using a larger infuser or teapot. More space means better flavor extraction.
